
We are a growing department that is striving to meet the demands of Scott County, Kentucky. With a population of 40,000 in the county, we are the 3rd fastest growing county in the state,88th in the nation. What once started out as a volunteer fire department, has now grown into a combination of 45 paid career and several part-time firefighters. Recently we just opened up a new fire station in Sadieville, which is northern Scott County.
We cover approximately 285 sq. miles that includes industrial, rural, business, residential estates, and two small towns, Sadieville and Stamping Ground. We also protect 24 miles of I-75 and 3 miles of I-64, two of the busiest highways in the nation.
Georgetown is the main city of Scott County, with a population of about 20,000. The Georgetown Fire Dept. protects the citizens of Georgetown, with an auto aid agreement between the Georgetown and Scott County Fire Dept.
We work a 24hr on/48hr off schedule. Our day begins at 7:30 am and ends the next morning at 7:30. There are 3 shifts, with each shift comprising of 9 Firefighters, 3 Lieutenants, 1 Captain, and 1 Battalion Chief, giving each shift a total of 14 who work on the frontline. Our Chief, Assistant Chief, and Training Coordinator work a standard 40 hr week.
